Artist Statement

Nancy Diamond’s work offers a glimpse into an interior world. Her paintings shift between the micro and macro, transforming her vision into impressions that are precise in detail and yet full of abstracted and hallucinatory alterations. She describes her work as a “repurposing of natural forms and patterns in order to build a highly sensitized terrain.” The skyward gaze in her current work is in part the result of seeing the cycle from sunrise to sunset each day from her studio wIndow.

Nancy Diamond was born in New York City and now lives and works in upstate NY. She received a BFA in painting and film from Rhode Island School of Design. For the past 25 years, she has been exhibiting her paintings and drawings in the US and abroad. She has received grants and awards from organizations including The National Endowment for the Arts and the Marie Walsh Sharpe/Walenta space program residency.
